Hope Chamber Orchestra

So much great sacred music has been composed for choir and orchestra!  There are many instrumental musicians in the Hope family and the time is right now to consider the possibility of gathering all of you together to see if we might create a small chamber orchestra.  Step one would be for us all to meet in a general informational, questions & answers meeting to determine the interest, instrumentation potential, and availability.  I'd like to consider having a couple of rehearsals this summer to see how we sound, once we've determined the breadth and depth and ability range of the musicians.  Everyone is invited, whether you currently are playing or even haven't played for awhile.  Henry David Thoreau once penned "Use the talents you possess.  The forest would be very quiet if only those birds sang who sang the 'best'."  If you're interested, let's meet Tuesday evening, July 5th @ 7 pm in the Fireside Room.  As an experienced orchestra conductor, I have no doubt that I will have our ensemble sounding very strong in a very short amount of time.  I have all of the orchestra library at MSU at my disposal and a number of works in the Hope choral library have orchestra parts.  Think about the excitement of being able, for example, to perform the Bach "Christmas Oratorio" and other great sacred works by Handel, Purcell, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms....  All questions will be answered during our discussion in early July.  So very much hoping to see you all there!
