BRAVEHEARTS was founded in 2008 by Bratton (8) and Hans (6) DuBose in response to their mom’s battle with cancer. Our wish is to help other children whose lives have been turned upside down because their parent is seriously ill.
We personally understand how tough it is when your world suddenly changes and keeps changing day by day. BRAVEHEARTS evolved out of our experience of connecting with people and organizations that wanted to help us during our family crisis and expanded to fill the gaps that weren’t yet in place.
Families in crisis are very isolated because they are overwhelmed by their situation. People sincerely want to help but they don’t always know what to do or when to jump in while preserving the family’s dignity. This unfortunately leaves the struggling family in a cycle of chaos clawing there way through the day without the energy or presence of mind to ask for the specific assistance they need and that people are eager to give.
We know what helps most~ it is being able to be a kid! Having someone to talk to, go swimming with, laugh with, create with and forget about the struggle at home even for an hour or two. We know the feeling of walking on egg shells and being upside down on thin ice and its’ stressful. We want to help you keep living a life that feels a little less heavy and more joyful.
Through the efforts of a care team of individual volunteers and partnering community organizations BRAVEHEART families can participate in any or all of the followings offering as they choose and when they choose. We show up in many ways; a few are listed for you to possibly explore:
BRAVEHEART Buddy ( Big brother or sister) Volunteer childcare Activity card Listening library Educational classes Art programs Meal preparation and delivery Organized Acts of Kindness~ house cleaning, yard work…
Our Community is generous and eager to help with the items mentioned above and many more. We are sorry you and your family are going through a very tough time and hope our caring will ease your way a little. You are not alone the bravehearts care enough to see you through and come alongside.
